Course Description
Visit to the Margaret Chase Smith Library, which is an archive, museum, educational facility, and pubic policy center devoted to preserving the legacy of Margaret Chase Smith, promoting research into American political history, advancing the ideals of public service, and exploring issues of civic engagement. The library houses the political papers, documents, honors, photographs, and memorabilia stemming from the Senator’s thirty-two year congressional career. The visit also includes the opportunity to view the Margaret Chase Smith home, a thirty-room mansion. After the tour, we will stop for buy-your-own lunch at Joe’s Flat Iron Cafe in Skowhegan.
Thursday, August 13, 9:00 a.m.- estimated return to Bangor at 3:30 p.m. Each participant is responsible for their own transportation. PVSC cannot arrange carpools for liability reasons. Those interested in sharing a ride may meet at Eastport Hall, 128 Texas Avenue, Bangor, at 8:45 a.m. to coordinate travel, departing to Skowhegan at 9:00 a.m.
