ABOUT US
Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Connections
At Penobscot Valley Senior College (PVSC), we believe that learning should never stop. Whether you’re exploring new subjects, diving into personal interests, or simply connecting with like-minded individuals, PVSC provides a welcoming and engaging environment for lifelong learners.
Our Story
PVSC was founded in 2002 by a group of retired University of Maine at Orono professors who had a simple yet powerful idea: to continue learning from one another. What began as a small initiative among educators and community leaders quickly grew into a thriving organization dedicated to providing stimulating, accessible, and enjoyable learning opportunities for individuals aged 50 and older.
Today, PVSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. As a proud member of the Maine Senior College Network (MSCN), we are part of a statewide initiative promoting lifelong education. PVSC is one of 17 Senior Colleges in Maine, each offering its own unique curriculum of courses and events.
